I’m João Abdalla, a Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) based in Brazil.

Over the last 20+ years, I’ve designed digital products for edtech, fintech, banking, and enterprise SaaS — from Qconcursos (Brazil’s largest edtech platform with 8M+ users) to Jalasoft and Jala University, where I lead end-to-end product design for complex enterprise tools and also teach UX and Figma to LATAM students..

Today, I work primarily with international teams as an independent contractor, joining product squads to help them discover, design, and ship better user experiences.

How I Work with International Teams

How I Work with
International Teams

I usually work as an independent contractor, not as a local employee. For most companies, this makes collaboration simple and low-friction:

– I’m based in Brasília, Brazil, and work fully remote
– We sign a service contract instead of an employment contract
– I invoice you monthly in USD
– No visa sponsorship or local employment setup is required on your side

In practice, I join your product team like any other Senior Product Designer: I participate in discovery, workshops, product reviews, standups, and async collaboration, using tools like Figma, FigJam, Notion, Jira, Slack, and Loom.

The only difference is the legal/financial structure – which is usually simpler.
